Hi all -  here is some compilation of the various comments and ideas about a harp day.  If I accidentally left things out - which I likely did, just put them in the comments - this is the very roughest of sketching out just so we have a common place to put our ideas.  I incorporated a few things from the last very popular event, and tried to think how it would work from home.

This format will work with one person (which could be me) with a pro account, a means to record, and a good internet connection, to "host".  If we have simultaneous workshops we would need additional hosts with the same.

I propose Oct 24, which is the day we had reserved for it when we meant to do things in person.

Looking forward to what we come up with - Marilyn

Virtual Merch table

12: - 12:45  Bring your lunch, hear what your local harpists have for sale. Sheet music, books, recordings, maybe T-shirts (you never know), or harps

-----------

We can ask who would like to participate in the gathering and allot the time we have between them. Need a moderator.  (not me - I have sheet music to sell.)

schedule

gather - 9:30 all participants on Zoom

10 - 11:30   -   a workshop - how to play a piece. aimed at our general harp community. Two or three or many with maybe differing levels of ability.  Could be different lengths

12 - 12:45 - the virtual merch table.  Learn about sheet music, recordings and other stuff for sale! (people with music or stuff for sale can sign up in advance and we'll divide the time according to the number of participants.

1:30  panel A

2:15 panel B

3 pm - 4:45  Masterclass -  need a teacher and a few students

5:30  - 6:30   Concert

or???

masterclass

masterclass in the afternoon after the panel discussions - need instructor and students. Miya - did you mean to incorporate your masterclass you talked about in this session?

Otherwise, again we need a teacher and some students

--

I have a crazy idea for a masterclass. We ask one or more of our university students to be the teacher, and have younger kids, or even adults beginners or intermediates to be the students. Those university people need help becoming teachers... and younger kids and late beginners don't get much masterclass time.

workshops

I don't think ensemble pieces work super well on Zoom, but we could have two or three simultaneous workshops in the am - and have students sign up for one or the other. The leader could teach a piece which will have been sent out earlier. It could have different levels, or we could have different pieces for different levels.

Ideas for workshops? volunteer leaders?

---------------------

panels

panels work well on Zoom - ideas for particular topics would be good, and volunteers to be on one, or assemble one -

a concert?

This could be done, over Zoom for participants (max 100) with students and teachers performing in turn.

Could also be pre-recorded but I'm not fond of this idea. As live as we can get seems better to me. Could be small ensembles if the students and teachers are in one place.

More thoughts?
